Sun State Builders Breaks Ground on Two New Projects, Completes Another

September was a busy month for Tempe-based Sun State Builders (SSB). The leading design-build general contractor broke ground on two new industrial office projects – one in Glendale and one in Phoenix. The company also finished construction on a new warehouse office space at the Deer Valley Technology Park in North Phoenix.

Construction is now underway in Glendale on a ground-up build for WorkBay, a company that provides flexible workspace for small businesses. It is a complex of five separate buildings totaling 80,082 square feet located at 7915 N Harbor Blvd. near Northern and 99th Avenues. The buildings will be divided into separate, smaller spaces that will be offered for lease for industrial, warehouse or business use. Construction is targeted for completion in September 2025.

Cohen Asset Management, a private real estate investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles, contracted Sun State Builders to construct its 33,450-square-foot office suite and airconditioned warehouse project located just west of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The Cohen Sky Harbor Building is a ground-up tilt panel construction that is targeted for completion in July 2025. The building will include a spec office suite and airconditioned warehouse that will be available for lease once complete.

Sun State Builders recently completed construction on a 43,672-square-foot building for Hopewell Development. Construction began on the masonry ground-up spec project in early January. It is a warehouse with 24-foot ceiling heights and an office suite that is now available for lease at the Deer Valley Technology Park at 2908 W. Deer Valley Road.

“We continue to see demand for ground-up builds for office and industrial space and we are working with clients from all over the U.S. investing in the Greater Phoenix Area,” states Mike Forst, CEO of Sun State Builders.

Sun State Builders is headquartered in Tempe with offices located at 1050 W. Washington St., Suite 214. The design-build general contractor has operated in Arizona for more than 50 years and has a portfolio of construction projects that include everything from large commercial ground-up builds to tenant improvements.
