University of Phoenix

The building was designed and constructed to meet the needs of the University of Phoenix for classrooms and support facilities as well as the needs and functionality required of remaining speculative Class A office space.

A series of decorative retaining walls were designed to offer storm water management and also offered multiple levels of landscaping.

A strong, central core entry focus was created using a curved curtain wall connecting the two building wings that penetrated the skyline to relate to a circular mechanical penthouse.  These wings were set on a slight angle to diminish the building’s horizontal mass and provide better focus for signage along the freeway. The major visual focus and costs associated with this central element was offset by the cost effective use of concrete tilt panel facades on the angled wings.  The Client’s objectives were met with creative success.
